About Gilberto Cavazos-González, OFM
Br. Gilberto Cavazos González, OFM, is a friar of the Order of Friars Minor and a scholar of Christian spirituality, rooted in the Franciscan and Clarian traditions and shaped by Latino (Tejano) Catholic life. His work explores the relationship between spirituality, culture, and pastoral practice, with particular attention to medieval mystical texts and Latino/a spiritual traditions, and he is the author of Greater than a Mother’s Love, The Spirituality of Francis and Clare of Assisi, Beyond Piety: The Christian Spiritual Life, Justice, and Liberation, and Tradiciones of Our Faith. He currently holds the John Duns Scotus Endowed Chair in Franciscan Spirituality at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and is completing a book on the Marian spirituality of the early sixteenth‑century mystic and pastor, Sister Juana de la Cruz Vazquez Gutierrez.
